Because Desire is Full of Endless Distances is an ongoing series of video studies, begun in 2004, that are part of my long-term preoccupation with the social and spatial dynamics of everyday events. The works vary in content⎯from spontaneous observations in public to staged performances and creations with found footage⎯to provide spaces within which I can explore and reproduce the tension between happiness and sadness, elation and desolation, plenitude and emptiness. These studies inspire me to devise provocative and exciting larger projects, ones that capture the dialectic between engagement and voyeurism that is fundamental to my practice.
